Can't load Autumn in Lampfire Hills

I couldn't find my answer in any thread I looked so sorry if I'm redundant. I am trying to run Autumn in Lampfire Hills.

The problem is when I try to run"Lampfire", it loads "song of the caverns"

I tried to download it from alternate sources. I opened the zip and read the readme in the archive

I can load any mission I want without problems. I am fully patched and using the Enhancement Pack. If I'm daft "sorry" but no other mission is broken.
    Anyone have an idea?

Just had a peek at my copy of that mission. For some reason purah gave the mission file the number 15...fm's are usually miss20.mis or higher so as to not get confused with the OM's. I imagine the number 15 is Song in Thief Gold and thus the confusion. For a quick fix move the original miss15.mis file out of the directory while you play Autumn.

I imagine it was released before Thief Gold, and thus Purah didn't think to go higher than that.

Should we track him down and chastise him?

I'm a little surprised this issue hasn't come up before.

    Thank you for the responses.

I deleted the original miss15 and installed Lampfire but no change.

Though I do see miss15 i nthe directory again. I then put the original back and uninstalled Lampfire.
I made sure that I uninstalled the mission first so as not to break anything. I also tried to rename the miss15 file in the archive but no change.

All my other missions can be installed without issue still.
I've played Lampfire in the past so heck ;( Anyone else have any ideas?

Something seems borked with you installation, I just fired up Autumn and had no problems running it. What mission loader are you using?

You also might want to check the directions for cleaning up your directories in the Thief FAQ stickied in this forum. Something is not right somewhere.

Edit: OK, after you've loaded Lampfire with you mission loader, check your Thief Gold directory. Mine shows a miss15.mis with a date of 10/12/99, while all the other .mis files are 9/29/99. See if yours matches the October date. When I uninstall Lampfire, the miss15.mis predictably goes back to the 9/29/99 date, as it should.

2nd Edit: OK, I checked, and mission 15 is actually Thieves Guild not Song of the Caverns, so this is something different. Check your user.cfg and see if you're possibly setup to skip to mission 17 (which is Song of the Caverns). It would say something like: "starting_mission 17"

Ditto! Played it several times with TG too. I'm interested to see what the problem is.

I think if you actually DELETED the other file and it still played that something does not add up!

If Mission 15 is actually the Thieves Guild (as Brethren pointed out), deleting it wouldn't stop Song of the Caverns from playing.

Thanks for all the input. I have no idea what happened but I eventually blew out the install and deleted everything. Then I had a major chore getting it to run again.

Before the uninstall, I noticed that some of my miss files were capitalized spelling.
Maybe from the sound enhancement pack? "

After a reinstall the miss files remained lower case.
I 've installed EP.crf , DDFIX and widescreen patch, but stayed away from any other enhancement.

Sorry for leaving this a mystery to everyone, but now I can play Lampfire hills. Oh and Brethern my user.cfg looked clean.
    Thanks for the help

hello, I was having the same problem when I tried to play this FM (I have TG GoG edition and TFix 1.15 with all enhancements etc. installed on Win 7 64). After installing the FM with Dark Loader I moved the file "miss15.mis.dml" out of the main TG directory (which left only the "mis15.mis" file dated 10/12/1999). Works fine now, loads Lampfire instead of Thieves' Guild and I can finally get to play this classic.

    Thanks for the info ^^
BTW, since you installed TFix 1.15 and thus have the "NewDark" engine, I think you should use FMSel instead of DarkLoader from now on (after restoring the original campaign, of course)

how do you use FMsel to play TG fan missions? It looks like it only can be used for Thief 2. I don't see it installed with TG (unless i'm looking in the wrong place) thanks

nevermind, found it... thread that shows you how to activate FMSel http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=140093

If you've installed NewDark for TG through either TFix or the manual way, FMSel should be available as well. It's pretty much the safest way to load T1/TG FMs that use NewDark now, since Darkloader thinks they are T2 FMs.

I also had a similar problem with PsymH's Unwelcome Guest rework. If I launched it through Darkloader I'd have Life of the Party, but if I launched it through FMSel the FM loaded correctly.
