    2. When i am in light bright off in editor sadows are wrong(it lights some walls up and messis with the textures in editor).

    Thank you for your time

    1. Create a folder and name it fam inside your Thief folder.
2.inside that folder, create another folder and give it a short name.
3.inside the custom folder you will need the palette named full.pcx, or if you are using .gif then full.gif
4.in the command console, lower right in dromed type:add_family name (one space after the y in family) Press Enter on your keyboard.
5.In the lower middle of the dromed screen it will say family loaded.
    6. Use Alt and T to bring up the texture menu
7.once you have applied the textures from that family, then go back to the command console, and type:Compress_family all This will remove unused textures from the texture menu.
8.In the Hierarchy/Textures, you will see your custom textures at the bottom of the drop down menu. Click on each one, and drag it to the material schema of your choice; wood, metal, stone or what ever. Then save your gamesys.gam , then set_gamesys.gam, then save your miss file.
9.If any textures show up in 'missing' Use the command console once again, and type purge_missing_objs, then save gamesys.gam, then set_gamesys.gam, then save your miss.

As far as shadow go, use obj cast lighting after optimising. It might take a while. Jason Otto offers a great turorial on lighting. It might be worth your while to study it. Just punch in Jasonotto.net in google, and you should be able to find his web site. You need to set the radius on each light object. Infinite light wont cast good shadows.

okay maby i did not make my self clear, new texture menu in the menu bar, aka i added this

    menu_tex3 custom1:add_family custom_text_1|New custom2:add_family custom_text_2
    menu_tex3_1 custom3:add_family custom_text_3

onto the menus.cfg, but when i go into dromed it does not show up on the top left.

and then the shadow problem is when it draws the shadows in the editor it will make diffrent walls, that are close to me, light up like light bright is on but walls farther away will look like the are suppose to.

The start of menus.cfg has a ; Menu descriptors section, where each menu's name is defined. You need to specify a name for menu_tex_3.
It depends on what's already in your file, but menu_tex_3 might conflict with existing names, so if you get strange results try using a different name.

You can sort of get shadows in the 3d view using the command mip_detail 0 but the textures are not shown with any detail. mip_detail 1 reverses the process.

thanks for the menu help but that realy does not help with the shadows, i know that it is a problem with the draw, witch thief 1 and gold did not have.
does any one know how to fix this problem, i hate having to go in game to see how my shadows look
