Game crashes: (indeo codec) LGVID.AX is the cause.

Ok this is gonna sound amusing coming from me, but Im getting the old "thief cant play movies because the indeo codec is being a shit" predicament...

I have re-inastalled the game and the indeo codec that came on the disc, I then registered said codec using the ' regsvr32 "D:\Games\Thief\T2\LGVID.AX".
    - result, the game and windows media player crash and list ' LGVID.AX ' as the cause.

I then installed the indeo 5 codec pack from a copy I've had since before ligos removed it from the internet.
    - result, the game and windows media player crash and list ' LGVID.AX ' as the cause.

No if I was running WinXp i think my problem would have been fixed by now, but I'm running Vista, so of course its still f******* broken and I cant figure out why. I really dont want to have to reinstall vista to get around this issue, as i have 2 FMs to beta test...

Incidentally, Pav there is a link on the FAQ thats broken, see below.
There's a fan-made patch available at the Circle, download it here and follow the instructions in the readme file. That should sort things out.

    Fix Found: See below.

Ok I have fixed it....again, but a different fix to the others listed...

    • Rename LGVID.AX to LGVID.OLD
    • Download and installed the indeo 5 codec - here (Ive uploaded my copy, Pav please mirror on the circle)
    • Click start, then run and type the following " regsvr32 ir50_32.dll "
    • Rename LGVID.OLD back to LGVID.AX
    • Go play thief....

I will email Bio to add this to the FAQ and PAV to mirror my copy of the indeo installer on the circle..

Being simple minded, I just copied the LGVID.EX to the desktop. Then just start it before I start the game.
