    Help Please

    1) I need to find out about Bennys love. The cook.

    2) Answers in the attic ? Looked everywhere and found nothing. There is a part of the attic I saw from the telescope I cant get into. The door isn't even frobable. Any help would be aprieciated. I did find the lever in the kitchen broom closet and the ladder seems to go to the attic to but the trap door is unfrobable. Does that go to the room I cant get into ?

    3) The searchlight I looked very closely at it. But I guess I'll try again

    4) Many say something about a swim. And I have no breath potion. Can someone tell me about this. 1-The room filling with water 2- Breath Potion

    5) There is a pipe in the basement with some blankets hanging around with a frobable something on it by an unfrobable doorWhat is it?

Great..I ko'ed the kitchen woman. I hope that did not screw up my game. I am playing on normal. I never found a note and the fire was out already.

Update: I found out the girl I KO'd earlier wasn't lucy. Because I went back to the kitchen after some additional gameplay and a Go Spy sub-objective and saw her (Lucy) but now I am stuck there....she seems to have turned into an applecore.

    Lightingline -

    1. IIRC, this is solved after you've done some more objectives.
    2. Look for a switch near the trapdoor.
    3. Read the plaque - what can you do with a hot light?
    4. Comes up later (& I never found a breath potion).
    5. You need to explore a room near the laundry - look for a lift.

    Hope that helps.

Thanks...OK..I got most of that stuff...but I do not know what to do after the "Damn she got away" part. I really want to finish this before I have to go to bed.

Someone asked the same question earlier but they came back and said Nevermind...they solved it. I wish when people solve something they ask they would take the time to say how.......

OK:solved I needed to look through the same hole lucy was looking through..across from the freezer on the wall.

Im off..and as for shutting off the search light I got a hint saying what do I do with a hot light..Im gonna try to water arrow it and hope it explodes.

Fun play, though maybe peculiar for a Valentine's mission? Sure, Garrett got MONEY! And Stephanie got PONIES!! But then, everybody else....

Somebody mentioned there was a special effect to the tarot cards? I must've missed it... What do they do?

cardia, the answer is in this post. It's quite hard to figure out what's going on there. I never would have gotten past this without this thread.

I expect mirrors to be available eventually.

I also threw in another air potion, just because I care.
Just curious, does this new release also address the issue of not being able to play the intro and outro videos that I described on page 6 of this thread?

There were no changes to the videos. They are (I thought) using a standard audio codec - IMA ADPCM. There seem to be several downloads available on Google.

The intro is available on U-Tube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xz0_om59Uoc). If there is interest, I can put the outro up there as well, since I've heard that some taffers can't play the videos with Vista.

Well, I'd be grateful if you could give me a secific, direct download link for it, then, because I cannot find one in Google. Yes, a search for "IMA ADPCM" turns up lots of hits, but none of them are actual downloads for the codec - they're all download links for various software compatible with it, or discussions of it, or codec directory pages with the line "We do not have IMA ADPCM here", or any of a number of other things; but never an actual link to download the codec itself.

The one exception is downloads of the Ace Mega Codecs pack, but every time I've installed a codec pack in the past it has caused me no end grief with conflicts, so I'd rather download a stand-alone IMA ADPCM driver.

Well, barring the above, that would be welcome, too. Even though after my trawling through non-codec-download Google hits, I suspect maybe all those taffers have the same problem of not having this codec.

I've put the Vandal epilogue video up on U-Tube for those who cannot view it in-game. (it was a whole lot easier than trying to make it work in Vista )

I am playing on Normal difficulty. I have solved all of the objectives except for untying the row boat on the dock. There is nothing frabbable on that boat. How do I escape on that boat if I have solved all of the objectives?

If you have all the other objectives complete the rope that ties the boat to the dock should be frobbable.

  17. #242
I figured it out now. It was kind of confusing because the only other objective not complete was not letting Benny die and untying the boat so I thought I should be able to leave, but I had not gone back inside and into the room in the kitchen where I could go down to where Nathan was and where the room with water was. Then I was able to get back to the boat dock where the tie was then frobbale

Good mission, nice bit of detective story. I actually had the pleasure of hearing Beethoven's 7th symphony in concert recently.

    Out of curiosity,
    spoiler:
was Nathan Hunter one of the prisoners listed in Cragscleft from Dark Project?

    One large gripe, however:
    spoiler:
the loot requirement on expert is too high. After playing Thief for more than a decade, I have no desire to be forced to find 98% of the loot in a mission before I can finish. It's just not interesting to me. In your second mission, I recommend lowering that percentage to around 80%, and if anyone wants to go hunt all the loot, that's fine.

No. Perhaps someone in the order accidentally left his name off the list.

Thanks for the input. This was discussed in beta testing. In the end, I left the loot totals as they were, since the readme said that the only difference in difficulty levels was loot. Maybe 98% was a bit excessive. Fortunately, Ladytaker is completely different in that regard.

    hello.

I'm stuck at the beginning. Everytime I go into the Hunter house (through the coal chute door into the basement) "Disable the security system without being detected" goal ticks off as failed and the mission ends.
    Am I missing something?

You have to close the coal chute door after you enter or the guards outside will notice it, you will be detected and the mission will fail.

jlfkit - If I recall correctly, they are not meant to be picked up. They are just there for the story and have no other use in the mission.
