Thread: Good Old Games (gog.com)

Hmm, yeah the wording on that is weird but I think it's just Gold. Someone please confirm or deny this.

Seems to me like what they were implying was that it was dark project with the gold version as a patch included. (That is, it's dark project but they have a special "gold" patch that makes it thief gold.) Which makes no sense, they should have said that it was the gold edition of dark project.

Given that there was never a patch to begin with to go from T1 to TGold, this never crossed my mind. Are there any other reasons to prefer T1 over TGold besides being able to complete RTC by "cheating"?

Well some people are raw 'cuz they replaced the craymen in the Lost City with mages on an exploratory trip.

I'll probably buy it this weekend. But to me, it sounds exactly like what they did with Gothic II/Gothic II Gold, which is include the original game for those who want to play it unaltered, but allow you to update to the gold version through the installer.

  5. #1330
Hmm, so you're saying it'd be like they have both versions in one installer and you'd choose which one to install? Do let me know what you find out.

that actually did do a lot to screw up the atmosphere of the original level. Its far less forboding and Alien when you're still up against human opponents.

    Also, Craymen are just awesome.

Yep, but only via email or directly giving away the activation code. Btw, send one TG code my way - I'll pm you an email address if you really intend to keep your promise.

Well, I don't know the GOG version, but the disc version of G2G has a separate disc for the expansion, so you can either install just G2 or G2+TNotR. Maybe GOG just went along with that. However, TDP and TG were always two separate products.

Never having played the original, I must still agree. I wonder if the Thief fandom's created a patch for this...

If you have another activation code to PM I'll gladly accept and play through TG again, having lost my physical copy years ago.

I sent Kokes a PM before those two, just didn't bother to mention it.

I like both versions but the original was better. If you own both games you could just go play the original mission if you dislike the Gold version.

So I bought Gabriel Knight 1 & 3 last week. Now that I'm about to finish 1, I'm wondering one thing...

Is GK2 as cheesy as it looks? I usually try to avoid mid 90's FMV PC games like the corny as hell plague ridden lumps of crap that they are. But if GK2 somehow manages to be fairy decent despite all odds, I'll consider picking it up.

    So? Is it decent?

  19. #1344
Aside from the rather uninspired acting job from the protagonist, GK2 mostly transcended its FMVness and came out as one of the best of its kind during that era. It has its lame moments, but overall it's a solid GK game about werewolves. I'd actually rate GK3 quite a bit higher on the cheese level.

Nothing beats the first one, but that's not too surprising.

Yaaay, just redeemed, thanks a bunch Koki It's funny I have a huge backlog of "new and shiny" games I collected through various steam sales over the past few games I need to catch up on now that I have a beefy PC, so Thief kinda sticks like a sore thumb among that list hehe. I remember loving/hating some aspects of Thief years back when I played it, but I've been itching for a slower, thinking-mans game I can delve into, so this just might turn me into another TTLG taffer!

EDIT: But no, don't worry I still wont post in Thiefgen :P

Good, because I'm experiencing so much second-hand embarrassment from them right now.

Still waiting on mine, btw, Kokes.
