You can't just make a list of complains and then say it's a great mod...

    Wordy descriptions? How so?

All weapons' descriptions have been rewritten. They now contain several paragraphs: one is a technical paragraph about the weapon, its origin, its charateristics, its use in the real world. Another one is a short background related to its appearance and use into the Zone. Special weapons have further more details about background and technical reference of the upgrade.

Also to mention about weapons in Redux: most of them have became customisable, for instance silencer on the FN2000, or scope and silencer on the Groza. (real weapon names are included)

Most of the changes can be found in the readme here

I started new game with the U.H.S.F. mod and it feels like a good one. At the tunnel with Nimble's perfected suit, there's lynxes and zombies and even the ghost creatures that usually don't spawn until later on the way to the Scorcher. Everything went dizzy and there's even a brainmelt alert hud icon. Now that's a good beginning...

Is the Float32 mod a must-have? What do I need to enable to make it work? Will it kill my framerate?

It's far from a must-have and if I'm right, you need a shader model 3 graphics card for it to properly work. If it does work properly though, it's supposed to improve frame rates.

It does the opposite of improving framerates for my SM3.0-supported system.
Just get weather overhaul, it has Float32 included.

Right, whats the point in the sleeping bag mod that come with aliVe? I've been awake for about thirty hours or so, far as I can reckon, and I'm still going strong. I thought sleep would be like food in that you need it every so often, is the sleeping bag literally just a time killer?

    Yes.

I mean, who wanders around at night? Seriously.

Thats kind of a pity. I liked the idea of desperately looking for a semi-secure hole to sleep in before you collapsed from exhaustion.

Yep, unless a person doesn't play in static lighting mode

I pretty much turned all knobs up to 11 on 0-10 scale and I still didn't move my butt when it was dark. Because it was dark.

Aside from the couple of missions where stealth is useful, you're generally better off moving around when it's light. Not only is it prettier, it's less scary too. I'm sure you could use the darkness to your advantage fighting stalkers if you've got the good night vision though.

AMK mod requires you to sleep. If you stay awake for too long you'll start to get double vision. I've never collapsed, but i believe that you do. I've certainly had to sleep in some hostile areas before. Decided to try it recently after seeing a link in another thread. It is pure awesome. Especially when blowouts occur and everyone runs for cover. Total chaos when you're out in the field with an imminent blowout. Of course, the mod is not perfect, but it is damn good fun. I also like the way you're competing against other stalkers who check stashes and scavenge. Highly recommend.

partly wrong. float up to version 1.5 afaik helped a "little" with the framerates. since 1.6 and the 2.0 version now is actually more complex and precise than before and therefore needs more ressources. upcoming new versions will even be more demanding. so only activate the latest float when you have a good rig.
and since 2.0 I can see the changes with my own eyes, recognize what they've done without having to read a technical explanation. the light bounces off surfaces and takes on its characteristics, like shine, bloom and multiple reflections by the sun. I wouldn't play some mods without it. (sometimes it better not to activate if the mod uses some surface/bump mapping changes or special weather/sun modifications).

Blowouts have been implemented properly with people running for cover? Why, that's simply awesome sauce!

I haven't tried any mods apart from Float32, so forgive my ignorance if this has been done already in previous mods... but that Blowout implementation and the competing/scavenging NPCs were exactly what GSC originally planned to have in the game.

Well, those and vehicles, but I'll take what I can get. Damn interesting mod you got there. I'm looking forward to trying it out.

afaik ABC were the first getting the blowout to work....
many followed, there seems to be a good sharing of work between the stalker fan mods, just like it should be

I believe Oblivion Lost is what you're looking for. It adds in blowouts, complex AI, full day/night and weather cycles, vehicles, and generally makes the game a lot more like the initial beta videos.

nah doofus, there's too much happening right from the start. and the rats annoy like hell. can't hit them at all.

AMK feels much better. But I'll finish my Olmod playthrough first.

Rats at least provide you with a use for pistols. Otherwise you waste half your ammo trying to plug the loud-mouthed little gits, and you end up having to try and stab the next patrol you run into.

That's what the grenade launchers are for.

My only complaint is that the avatar gets hungry way too often (must be a real fatty), and there's little food anywhere - except that sold by traders... who exchange three sandwiches for a NATO rifle in good condition
Just so you know, you can modify your hunger rate this way:

    Open:
    gamedata/config/creatures/actor.LTX

    Find the line that reads:
    satiety_v = 0.00003

    Change it to read:
    satiety_v = 0.000015

Save on exit - you're now using the hunger setting set by GSC in vanilla. Do note that this simply changes your hunger rate, so now you'll find that food will NEVER be something you need to consider in the future.
Of course you can tweak it to your liking. As for stuff being expensive - well, that's part of what this mod is about.

This Priboi Story Mod seems to be pretty cool. I've been exploring a little in Cordon, but haven't made it anywhere else yet. (Little time to play, and lots of things to do around my house )

Here are several direct downloads. Make sure you get patches from the main site. Patches.
    File Factory. Lots of ads
Megaupload. Enter the code next to the word Megaupload and click download on the right of that text box.
Torrent Link. Speed was pretty slow when I tried torrent. Try out the File Factory one. Not too bad on speed.

Ok, this is stupid but... there's PLR's realistic weapons for AMK, except it's on Megaupload. If someone could re-upload it to a service which actually works(rapidshare, zshare, mediafire etc.) I'd be grateful.

  24. #124
    It worked for me.
    100KB file in a .RAR?
I didn't install it yet though, I didn't want to mess with my Priboi settings.

Well yeah, Megashit has this clever system where they allocade download slots based on uploaded files per country. So if you live in, let's say, USA, you will have no problems because whole USA is uploading files all the time, but if you live in, let's say, anywhere else then you probably will.
