    Creating Enchanted Items

Is it possible to create enchanged items like armor that increase your abilities like strength? If so how?

Are there bigger Soul Gems than Grand?

Enchanting items requires access to the altar of enchanting in the mages guild university in Imperial city. You have to get recommendations from all the local guild heads to gain access.

Black soul gems, AFAIK, aren't bigger per se, but can trap humanoids, while grand soul gems cannot.

There aren't really any soul gems bigger than grand. However, a Black Soul Gem is the same level as grand and allows you to capture the souls of NPCs. Azura's Soul Gem can also catch grand-level souls, with the added bonus that the gem is reusable.

You can enchant items with Sigil Stones found inside Oblivion gates (the first effect of a sigil stone applies to weapons, the second applies to armor/jewelry.) A perk for joining the Mage's guild is the ability to enchant items, but you must gain a certain rank in the guild before this.

I just used one of my black soul gems on a bandit this morning for the first time. I was surprised to see that it said that it contained a grand soul. I knew it *could* contain a grand soul, but apparently all humans are grand.

Felt surprisingly guilty afterward. His poor soul trapped in a gem then crammed into some weapon or piece of armor for all eternity.

    Reminds me of Anima Tuco.

Yeah. Now I'm forced to wonder who remembers that fiasco. Only one of those Help Tuco threads worked, and that was the first.

    Thanks

I have access to the Enchanting place and have created items.

But say I wanted to add strength to my armor. Do I have to have a certain spell to do it?

Thanks alot. I suppose I should head out and try to find a Necromancer Hideout with an altar. I need to make some black sould gems. Is there one close by anthing?

The only Necromancer Hideout I know the directions to would be the one to the far East of Vaermina's Daedric Shrine. You have to cross the Reed River to get to it though, and it's on top of a small hill.

Vaermina's shrine is on the coast of lake Poppad.

How do I create a spell?

Gotta join the mages guild and get access to the university. There's a room there, don't remember the exact name for it, along the same wall as the chironasium and all that. Inside is an altar of spellmaking. Add effects, set magnitude - can only use effects from a spell you know.

And can cast. If your only Invisibility spell requires 100 Illusion and you have 25 Illusion then you can't make an Invisibility spell. Same goes for enchanting.

Anybody know what day and what time the light shines on the Dark Fissure Altar so I can make a Dark Soul Gem? I've been standing in front of it with my finger up my ass for quite some time now .

It's not fixed. One day a week, a light shines down starting at midnight, and you can make a black gem from an empty grand all day.

Kinda sucks that it's not a fixed time for the beam of light.

Yet, I do find it amusing that while waiting for the beam of light to shine on the altar an unsuspecting Necromancer always strolls up to make his own Black Soul Gem.

This calls for a fantastic and delectable recipe for a Black Soul Gem stuffed with a Necromancer Soul.

Recipe for Necromancer Grand Soul Gem

(Always be accompanied by an adult)

    1. Place a Grand Soul Gem in the altar.

    2. Sprinkle Soul trapping upon the altar and say "Abra Kadabra."

    3. Remove freshly baked Black Soul Gem from altar, set aside.

    4. Spray Necromancer with a lovely coat of Soul Trap.

    5. Gut & Clean Necromancer w/ weapon of choice.

    et Voila!

Once the Necromancer is gutted and cleaned, his soul (if all steps to the recipe have been followed correctly) will automatically be wisked away from his/her body and gently kneeded and folded carefully into the Black Soul Gem for you satisfaction.

    Bon Appetit!

Is that how you make a black soul gem; you put a grand soul gem in the altar and spray that beeatch with some soul trapping?

AFAIK, it must be an empty grand soulgem, but yes.
