I think Istvan's point is that the GPL allows commercial distribution, so you would not be able to use code which has a "non-commercial only" restriction (i.e. FMOD) in a GPL project.
That is of course assuming you use the GPL for ODE; maybe you have chosen a different licence which forbids commercial distribution.

Volca, keep up the great work!
Fantastic work here guys. I only wish I could assist in some way, though I don't see in what sort of capacity I could be helpful.
All of the screenshots are pretty damn exciting, to say the least.
Hi thereI am glad to discover this project, since i work as a graphic design and i am a fan of the thief 1 and 2, i offer an extra hand or both :P
Fell free to email me : samoes28@hotmail.com
thanks

Maybe have a look at this website:

Thanks for offering help. I'll send you an e-mail as soon as I'll have the time to do so (at work now, I'm afraid).
Thanks for the link. For now, I left the decision of the sound library, as this will be hot topic starting with version 0.3, which is the target of all the efforts now.
There are some parts of the project which need to be written/removed to get to 0.3. I'd like to implement some kind of basic gui compatible with the Dark's for example (but mainly the work is about input bindings and per-frame updates handling). I'd also like to create a release of 0.3, but I'll see if this is a good idea or not (Source release will be made for sure, but maybe not a binary one).
Very exciting stuff guys
Hey can we stick this thread so it doesn't go anywhere?
That's what bookmarks are for.![]()
You can subscribe to the thread, as well, but yeah, that won't get the attention of new members. Well, too many members, new or not, don't read the stickied threads, anyway.
As long as the excitement keeps building, and news-worthy progress is being made, or there's a job needing done, stickying this thread won't be necessary.
Anything new happening?
I have a question regarding this love project :P, its a thief clone or can we brainstorm to add some new features ? :P

For your own protection against email spam, I'd recommend you write your email as "name (at) service (dot) pt "or something like that. Bots might be able to read your address here and abuse it. Just a friendly notice.![]()
As I said, it won't get done in a short time. New things are happening all the time, but not something worth mentioning. I'm bit time stressed these days, so progress is slow, but I've got some new members, so hopefully the progress will accelerate. We lack people with a deep Dark Engine knowledge, but there is a lot info lying around so it's ok.
Well, not a thief/SS2 clone. More like an engine capable of running the original game material, with improvements planned.
I've sent you an e-mail some time ago, did you receive it? Please PM me and we can discuss.
(I'd recommend you not to put your e-mail into the discussion like that, you'll easily get spammed)
