Each time you use that key in the elevator the button should change direction. Is it possible you used the key more than once? If so, just try it again.

It is hard to give advice without knowing at what stage you are in this level, but ...
did you have a look through the telescope and check the attic in the boathouse ?

    Very nice!

Just finished playing this one for the first time. After seeing the sequel, I wanted to follow the storyline properly. Managed to finish with everything but 20 loot.

Very nicely done, love the atmosphere and the puzzles. Just one thing I'm a bit confused about. If Nathan is Natalie, why doesn't the woman patrolling the kitchen (who presumably is Natalie) disappear after Nathan changes into male clothes?

Otherwise, a great mission. I'm looking forward to the next one.

The woman disappearing from the kitchen is Lucy, Nathan's sister.
You did meet both of them fighting) at the end of the mission, didn't you?

I know who Lucy is. I knocked her out at the end of the mission. I'm referring to the cook, Natalie, who patrols around the kitchen and checks on the roast.

That was Carrie, the assistant cook. Natalie left her a note in the kitchen, telling her to watch the roast, as Natalie had personal matters to attend to.

As for the next tale from Cragscleft, I'm thinking that might be Pirate.

    But don't tell anyone. It's a secret.

Alas, it's only in the planning stages. But good things come to those who wait.

Patience is a virtue - of which I am terribly short! Very much enjoying this series, can't wait for the next installment.

And that's for the clarification regarding the chef. I remember reading a note about checking the roast but didn't notice a different name on it.

    First off Balboa,

Gotta say, the bit with the dumb arse Mechanist turning out the gatehouse lights and then promptly
takin a header all the way down thru the ladder's opening!

    HILARIOUS!
(What a broken cog he was to do that! now even more broken!)
Tho he screamed quite well! Til he suddenly stopped of course!
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Gennies that I can't turn off! = NOT FAIR!

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Cool mission Balboa! Am starting Ladytaker immed!

I def will replay this one tho at some time in the future - missed a few of the "haha's"!

    One thing tho:

"Um, Mr. Hunter sir. Sorry to have to ask you this. But, are you aware that your son Nathan is, well, sir, YOUR SON IS A CROSSDRESSER!"

(poor poor Benny - ya think he had a drinking prob BEFORE!)

Not to worry, Benny has moved on. You'll hear a bit from him in Ladytaker, and he'll play a part in future chapters.

I've left a small clue to the next mission here, for anyone clever enough to figure it out.

I just re-played this mission and I'd forgotten how much fun it is, but I think I came across a bug. Somehow I ended the mission with 5101 of 4871 loot. If I'm able to later I'm going to play through a second time and see if it happens again.

Total loot in this mission is 4871.
But on top you get 300 when the mission starts. These 300 should be ignored by the mission.
Seems like the statistic doesn't calculate that properly. So, you have like 5101/5171.

I see things like that happen in other missions as well from time to time.
And I would like to understand this bug - and avoid it - in case one can.

You know what gnartsch, I messed that up. I should have thought about that and saved some of my save games to be analyzed by those in the know. I've already started a new game and the old saves have been overwritten.

    My bad, please forgive me.

On a side note, this FM is a lot easier when you play it a second time in the same day.

    Enjoyed it but stuck

This has been a fun mission but I'm now stuck.

I have the packing list from Arturo with the numbers on it, and know where the books are in the library. But it seems I also need some maps, and haven't found any maps anywhere...

I've forgotten some of the details of this but there's a walkthrough here that can probably help you find what you're missing.
