    Vampire...bug?

Ok so I get infected with porfyric hemophilia. 3 hours later I bless at an altar. Next morning I have a dream so I drink a cure disease and pray again. Still no change. I do this for 3 ingame days with no affect I just turn into a vampire. My last save game was 4 quests ago (I know I should have saved) and I don't want to do the vampire cure quest. Basicly because after what i've done I shouldn't be a vampire!!! Is there any console command or anything to change me back or should I just do the vampire cure quest?

I'm pretty pissed at the moment because until the last few days Oblivion has been fine. Now it's just one bug after another. Quests not completeing, quest essential characters dissapearing from existence and constant crashes. Can anyone help me here?

And yes I did post a thread about the non completing quests a couple of hours ago.

Once you have the dream, you can't cure vampirism with just a cure disease potion, AFAIK. The altar should have fixed things for you. If you still have a safe from before you physically changed into a vampire, try chugging the potion then.

www.gamefaqs.com has a list of console commands if you want to look through them. A list can also be found here.

Does your character have the Atronarch birthsign (or some other constant effect Spell Absorbtion)? If so you may have absorbed (50% chance) the Cure Disease effect of the altar rather than being cured. Drinking the potion before you had the dream would have cured it.

I did the vampire cure quests. It's actually pretty easy, just a bit long and involes a lot of 'waiting' until night.

Um...I had a spell absorb amulet on. Could that be the problem?

And I have 3 relevant saves. One that was 4 quests ago, another that is just after the 1st dream, around 12 hours after infection and a 3rd which is when im almost fully vampire (Already have sun damage)

So should I load the save just after ther first dream, take off the amulet and then pray again?

If you have Vampirism in your effect list then you need to do the quest to cure yourself. If you have Drain Fatigue (listing Porphyric Hemophilia when you highlight it) in your effect list then you can cure yourself at a shrine. First dream should have turned you into a stage 1 vampire.

And that amulet could have eaten the Cure Disease part of the blessing.

Yeh I'll do the vampire cure quest. Looks quite good anyway

Hehe, well can't continue that now. I have all the ingredients yet she still says I don't have them.

I 'turned' earlier today. Rather annoyed about the whole business. This was due i think, to completing the first batch of assassin quests.
    spoiler:
I quite categorically said NO THANKS VERY MUCH!! to the vamp assassin mentor when he offered me his dark gift, but later that night i was fiddled with in my sleep.

    bugger!
    spoiler:
now i have to do the mages recommendation quests (which have been very good up to now) to get Harry Pottered at the local uni'

Drop your ingredients and pick it up again.

I've been a level 1 vampire for a long time now, plenty of perks and no sun damage, what's not to love?

It did make my character's face ugly, but who cares about that?

As stupid as it sounds I actually *HATED* the way I looked as a vamp I couldn't stand looking at my character in the menu screen.
Other than that though the Hunters Sight (nightvison/life detect) was sweet, especially for a thief along with the other bonuses.
So I got vamped awhile back and I think I had the same problem as Petieng, I drank a cure disease potion and I even went to a shrine and I still turned. I wound up solving all my problems with a mod or two, I look pretty normal now at stage 1, and at higher stages I just get more pale it seems. Also the little mod that makes Hunter's Sight a toggle instead of a cast is also quite nice.

Hmm... I have a question. As a wood elf I get 75% immunity to disease. I also have a ring which gives me 25% immunity. Does that mean I can't get infected (or get any other disease for that matter) when I wear the ring?

I've gotten infected by a disease with 175 Disease Resistance (Redguard Vampire).

100 may be a magical number, but I don't think so.

I still got infected with Porphyric Hemophelia even after I had already been a vampire for about 20 in-game days
